I just discovered art board – backward of me, I know, because the stuff has been around for eons. I bought a package of four boards some time ago and forgot about them until a studio cleanup brought them to light.
I did an acrylic painting of a colt on one of them and I really, really like this surface. It’s smooth enough to get a lot of detail, unlike canvas which always frustrates me when it comes to painting harness. Gave the back of the board a coat of acrylic varnish to seal it, then a thin coat of acrylic paint on the front and I was ready to paint.
If the sun ever comes out, I’ll take a picture of the painting and post it.
