Art in Atenas – Second Show

The Atenas Painters Association is holding its second show this weekend at Hotel Colinas del Sol, Calle Boqueron, Atenas, Costa Rica.

Hours: Saturday, August 27, 2-7pm. Sunday, August 28, 2-5pm.

This show is being held in memory of Gordon Balter, our friend and neighbor who believed there were enough talented artists in Atenas to achieve the goal of Atenas being recognized as the “art capital of Costa Rica” and he formed the Atenas Painters Association two years ago.

Last night (Friday, August 26) we held a private art and wine opening reception and, based on the number of people who arrived to mingle, enjoy art and wine, I think we are getting closer to Gordon’s vision. There are presently seven artists participating in our group.

People started arriving at 4pm and a steady stream of visitors came to the show until closing time at 8pm. We were delighted to see many Costa Ricans supporting us.

A good number of art works were purchased last night, including my “Tranquilo”. “Tranquilo” has found a new home at a cattle ranch near us – the perfect place for it because the ranch has brahman cattle.

Here’s to you Gordon – thank you.
